In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.

It’s useless for you to work from early morning until late at night just to get food to eat. God provides for those he loves even while they sleep.

It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.

It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.

So Peter was kept in prison, but prayer was being made earnestly to God for him by the church.On the night before Herod was to bring him out for execution, Peter, bound with two chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while the sentries in front of the door guarded the prison.

She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household and portions for her female servants.She evaluates a field and buys it; she plants a vineyard with her earnings.She draws on her strength and reveals that her arms are strong.She sees that her profits are good, and her lamp never goes out at night.

I have seen all the things that are done under the sun and have found everything to be futile, a pursuit of the wind.

I gathered male and female singers for myself, and many concubines, the delights of men.So I became great and surpassed all who were before me in Jerusalem; my wisdom also remained with me.All that my eyes desired, I did not deny them. I did not refuse myself any pleasure, for I took pleasure in all my struggles. This was my reward for all my struggles.When I considered all that I had accomplished and what I had labored to achieve, I found everything to be futile and a pursuit of the wind. There was nothing to be gained under the sun.

There is a person without a companion, without even a son or brother, and though there is no end to all his struggles, his eyes are still not content with riches.“ So who am I struggling for,” he asks,“ and depriving myself from good?” This too is futile and a miserable task.

And He said to Adam,“ Because you listened to your wife’s voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you,‘ Do not eat from it’: The ground is cursed because of you. Save with Your right hand, and answer me, so that those You love may be rescued.

You, indeed, have made my days short in length, and my life span as nothing in Your sight. Yes, every mortal man is only a vapor. Selah“ Certainly, man walks about like a mere shadow. Indeed, they frantically rush around in vain, gathering possessions without knowing who will get them.

All man’s labor is for his stomach, yet the appetite is never satisfied.
