Lord, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me.

I have found my servant David. I have anointed him with my holy oil.I will steady him with my hand; with my powerful arm I will make him strong.His enemies will not defeat him, nor will the wicked overpower him.I will beat down his adversaries before him and destroy those who hate him.My faithfulness and unfailing love will be with him, and by my authority he will grow in power.I will extend his rule over the sea, his dominion over the rivers.

Turn your ear to listen to me; rescue me quickly. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe.

Then Jacob prayed,“ O God of my grandfather Abraham, and God of my father, Isaac— O Lord, you told me,‘ Return to your own land and to your relatives.’ And you promised me,‘ I will treat you kindly.’I am not worthy of all the unfailing love and faithfulness you have shown to me, your servant. When I left home and crossed the Jordan River, I owned nothing except a walking stick. Now my household fills two large camps!O Lord, please rescue me from the hand of my brother, Esau. I am afraid that he is coming to attack me, along with my wives and children.But you promised me,‘ I will surely treat you kindly, and I will multiply your descendants until they become as numerous as the sands along the seashore— too many to count.’”

“ And now, O Lord God, I am your servant; do as you have promised concerning me and my family. Confirm it as a promise that will last forever.
