In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me:“ Flee like a bird to your mountain.

David stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hills of the Desert of Ziph. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands. (niv)

I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. (niv)

That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath.But the servants of Achish said to him,“ Isn’t this David, the king of the land? Isn’t he the one they sing about in their dances:“‘ Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands’?David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish king of Gath. From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab,“ Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?” (niv)

Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said,“ Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.” (niv)

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. (niv)
