Moab is my washbasin, on Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”

Moab serves me like one who washes my feet. I toss my sandal on Edom to show that I own it. I shout to Philistia that I have won the battle.”

But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.”

Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning redeeming and exchanging, to confirm anything: one man took off his sandal and gave it to the other, and this was a confirmation in Israel.Therefore the close relative said to Boaz,“ Buy it for yourself.” So he took off his sandal.

Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.”Who will bring me to the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom?Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?

After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.Then he defeated Moab. Forcing them down to the ground, he measured them off with a line. With two lines he measured off those to be put to death, and with one full line those to be kept alive. So the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought tribute.
