He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle.

He led them straight to a city where they could make their homes.

He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in.

Who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn’t stumble?As the livestock that go down into the valley, Yahweh’s Spirit caused them to rest. So you led your people to make yourself a glorious name.

You led your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

But he led out his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.

They will come with weeping. I will lead them with petitions. I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they won’t stumble; for I am a father to Israel. Ephraim is my firstborn.

But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,

They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way. They found no city to live in.

But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,“ This is the way. Walk in it.”

Yahweh says:“ Yet again there will be heard in this place, about which you say,‘ It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,’the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say,‘ Give thanks to Yahweh of Armies, for Yahweh is good, for his loving kindness endures forever;’ who bring thanksgiving into Yahweh’s house. For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed as at the first,” says Yahweh.Yahweh of Armies says:“ Yet again there will be in this place, which is waste, without man and without animal, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of him who counts them,” says Yahweh.

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from him a straight way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our possessions.For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying,“ The hand of our God is on all those who seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath is against all those who forsake him.”So we fasted and begged our God for this: and he granted our request.

Now these are the chiefs of the province who lived in Jerusalem; but in the cities of Judah everyone lived in his possession in their cities: Israel, the priests, the Levites, the temple servants, and the children of Solomon’s servants.

By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.For he looked for the city which has the foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

There he makes the hungry live, that they may prepare a city to live in,

Yahweh says,“ I have answered you in an acceptable time. I have helped you in a day of salvation. I will preserve you and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage,saying to those who are bound,‘ Come out!’; to those who are in darkness,‘ Show yourselves!’“ They shall feed along the paths, and their pasture shall be on all treeless heights.They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he who has mercy on them will lead them. He will guide them by springs of water.I will make all my mountains a road, and my highways shall be exalted.

I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying,“ Behold, God’s dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.”

forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing;

“ Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,“ that the city will be built to Yahweh from the tower of Hananel to the gate of the corner.The measuring line will go out further straight onward to the hill Gareb, and will turn toward Goah.The whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields to the brook Kidron, to the corner of the horse gate toward the east, will be holy to Yahweh. It will not be plucked up or thrown down any more forever.”

Judah and all its cities will dwell therein together, the farmers, and those who go about with flocks.

For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.

Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says:“ I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.

Yahweh says,“ Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths,‘ Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said,‘ We will not walk in it.’

He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, as if it were a jasper stone, clear as crystal;having a great and high wall; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.On the east were three gates; and on the north three gates; and on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.He who spoke with me had for a measure a golden reed to measure the city, its gates, and its walls.The city is square, and its length is as great as its width. He measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand twelve stadia. Its length, width, and height are equal.Its wall is one hundred forty- four cubits, by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass.The foundations of the city’s wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; and the twelfth, amethyst.The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, and the Lamb, are its temple.The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.Its gates will in no way be shut by day( for there will be no night there),and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

to him who led his people through the wilderness; for his loving kindness endures forever:

A highway will be there, a road, and it will be called“ The Holy Way”. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it will be for those who walk in the Way. Wicked fools shall not go there.No lion will be there, nor will any ravenous animal go up on it. They will not be found there; but the redeemed will walk there.Then Yahweh’s ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
