是以上帝有言、必翦滅之、惟所選之摩西、當其衝、立其前、挽回其怒、免行翦滅兮、

於是欲加翦滅、惟有摩西、為上帝所遴選、代民祈求、爰息震怒、不殲斯族兮、

惟時主云將翦滅之、幸有主所選之摩西、立於主前、挽回主怒、不行誅戮、

若非每瑟。為之緩頰。彼代之人。久矣絕跡。

So he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them.

So he said he would destroy them. But Moses, his chosen one, stood up for them. He kept God’s anger from destroying them.

Now I had stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights, as I did the first time, and the Lord listened to me at this time also. It was not his will to destroy you. (niv)

Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God.“ Lord,” he said,“ why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?Why should the Egyptians say,‘ It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self:‘ I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’”Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened. He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. (niv)

You have not gone up to the breaches in the wall to repair it for the people of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord. (niv)

“‘ But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me; they did not get rid of the vile images they had set their eyes on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in Egypt. (niv)

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. (niv)

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (niv)

“ Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. (niv)

I feared the anger and wrath of the Lord, for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me. (niv)

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit— fruit that will last— and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. (niv)

“‘ Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws— by which the person who obeys them will live— and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out. (niv)
