纔得安寧。便恣淫佚。率彼曠野。惟求口實。

In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.

In the desert they longed for food. In that dry and empty land they tested God.

But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;

In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland.

And the mixt multitude that[ was] among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in[ their] heart; and they have not known my ways.

And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
