In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.

Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness;When your fathers tempted me, Proved me, and saw my work.

How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness, And grieve him in the desert!And they turned again and tempted God, And provoked the Holy One of Israel.
