They put away the foreign gods from among them and served Yahweh; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

Listen to the voice of my cry, my King and my God; for I pray to you.

Out of the depths I have cried to you, Yahweh.Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.

Listen to my prayer, God. Don’t hide yourself from my supplication.Attend to me, and answer me. I am restless in my complaint, and moanbecause of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked. For they bring suffering on me. In anger they hold a grudge against me.My heart is severely pained within me. The terrors of death have fallen on me.Fearfulness and trembling have come on me. Horror has overwhelmed me.

He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

I said,“ My strength has perished, along with my expectation from Yahweh.”Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the bitterness.My soul still remembers them, and is bowed down within me.

Blessed is he who considers the poor. Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.Yahweh will preserve him, and keep him alive. He shall be blessed on the earth, and he will not surrender him to the will of his enemies.

Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, until disaster has passed.I cry out to God Most High, to God who accomplishes my requests for me.He will send from heaven, and save me, he rebukes the one who is pursuing me. Selah. God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.

These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I used to go with the crowd, and led them to God’s house, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.

Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.

He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.He said to them,“ My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch.”

“ Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Yahweh;“ I will set him in safety from those who malign him.”

I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah.
