我非禮不視、深惡邪僻、雖片刻不敢從兮、

邪僻之事、不容在我目前、叛逆之事、我最恨惡、不容沾染我身、

蕩滌邪與淫。痛絕虛偽習。

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it.

I won’t look at anything that is evil and call it good. I hate the acts of people who aren’t faithful to you. I won’t have anything to do with those things.

I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.

I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them.

I will not let anything worthless guide me. I hate the practice of transgression; it will not cling to me.

I will set no worthless thing before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.

I will set no base thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; It shall not cleave unto me.

“ I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman?

Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said,“ Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”

But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

“ You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Let no one say when he is tempted,“ I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.

Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, lest you turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left,

Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying,‘ The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you.

Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Then Samuel said to the people,“ Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?

“ Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence.”

They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said,‘ This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’”

Yes, again and again they tempted God, And limited the Holy One of Israel.

Get out of the way, Turn aside from the path, Cause the Holy One of Israel To cease from before us.”

I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law.

For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly;At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper.Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things.Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying:“ They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”

So none of the accursed things shall remain in your hand, that the Lord may turn from the fierceness of His anger and show you mercy, have compassion on you and multiply you, just as He swore to your fathers,

They covet fields and take them by violence, Also houses, and seize them. So they oppress a man and his house, A man and his inheritance.

The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.For I have kept the ways of the Lord, And have not wickedly departed from my God.For all His judgments were before me, And I did not put away His statutes from me.I was also blameless before Him, And I kept myself from my iniquity.

“ I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.

So Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying,“ Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden, because it is near, next to my house; and for it I will give you a vineyard better than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”But Naboth said to Ahab,“ The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said,“ I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food.But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him,“ Why is your spirit so sullen that you eat no food?”He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”Then Jezebel his wife said to him,“ You now exercise authority over Israel! Arise, eat food, and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”And she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and the nobles who were dwelling in the city with Naboth.She wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and seat Naboth with high honor among the people;and seat two men, scoundrels, before him to bear witness against him, saying,“ You have blasphemed God and the king.” Then take him out, and stone him, that he may die.So the men of his city, the elders and nobles who were inhabitants of his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them.They proclaimed a fast, and seated Naboth with high honor among the people.And two men, scoundrels, came in and sat before him; and the scoundrels witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying,“ Naboth has blasphemed God and the king!” Then they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died.Then they sent to Jezebel, saying,“ Naboth has been stoned and is dead.”And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab,“ Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.”So it was, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab got up and went down to take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,“ Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who lives in Samaria. There he is, in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to take possession of it.You shall speak to him, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ Have you murdered and also taken possession?”’ And you shall speak to him, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, dogs shall lick your blood, even yours.”’”So Ahab said to Elijah,“ Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he answered,“ I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord:‘ Behold, I will bring calamity on you. I will take away your posterity, and will cut off from Ahab every male in Israel, both bond and free.I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and made Israel sin.’And concerning Jezebel the Lord also spoke, saying,‘ The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.’The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Ahab and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field.”But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up.And he behaved very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.So it was, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his body, and fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went about mourning.And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,“ See how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity in his days. In the days of his son I will bring the calamity on his house.”

I said,“ I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.”

I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, Nor will I go in with hypocrites.I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And will not sit with the wicked.

The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil:

You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

But turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers; They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

Those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops; Those who worship and swear oaths by the Lord, But who also swear by Milcom;Those who have turned back from following the Lord, And have not sought the Lord, nor inquired of Him.”

They prepare their heart like an oven, While they lie in wait; Their baker sleeps all night; In the morning it burns like a flaming fire.They are all hot, like an oven, And have devoured their judges; All their kings have fallen. None among them calls upon Me.

As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, The Lord shall lead them away With the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!
