Father and son use the same girl and so profane my holy name. (niv)

“ Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord.“ I will protect them from those who malign them.” (niv)

The arrogant have hidden a snare for me; they have spread out the cords of their net and have set traps for me along my path. (niv)

Scoundrels use wicked methods, they make up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just. (niv)

Listen to the wail of the shepherds; their rich pastures are destroyed! Listen to the roar of the lions; the lush thicket of the Jordan is ruined! (niv)

What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty. (niv)

The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice. (niv)

“ Among my people are the wicked who lie in wait like men who snare birds and like those who set traps to catch people. (niv)

Don’t give in to them, because more than forty of them are waiting in ambush for him. They have taken an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They are ready now, waiting for your consent to their request.” (niv)

The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. (niv)

For he stands at the right hand of the needy, to save their lives from those who would condemn them. (niv)
