“ He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself.

責侮慢者、自招詆毀、斥邪惡者、自取玷污、

譴責侮慢者、反受凌辱、督責惡人者、反見污衊。

譴責侮慢者、反受凌辱、規勸惡人者、反被詬詈、

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.

When you correct someone who makes fun of others, you might be laughed at. When you warn a sinner, you might get hurt.

Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.

Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt.

The one who corrects a mocker will bring abuse on himself; the one who rebukes the wicked will get hurt.

One who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And one who rebukes a wicked person gets insults for himself.

He that correcteth a scoffer getteth to himself reviling; And he that reproveth a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

The one who corrects a mocker will bring dishonor on himself; the one who rebukes a wicked man will get hurt.

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked[ man getteth] himself a blot.

Whoever corrects a mocker is asking for insult; whoever reproves a wicked person receives abuse.

One who corrects a mocker invites insult. One who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.

A scoffer does not love one who corrects him, Nor will he go to the wise.

Therefore the anger of the Lord was aroused against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him,“ Why have you sought the gods of the people, which could not rescue their own people from your hand?”So it was, as he talked with him, that the king said to him,“ Have we made you the king’s counselor? Cease! Why should you be killed?” Then the prophet ceased, and said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”

But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy.

Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him,“ Is that you, O troubler of Israel?”

Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said,“ Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”

See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof.”And they said,“ Stand back!” Then they said,“ This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.

So Ahab said to Elijah,“ Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he answered,“ I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord:

Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, For he will despise the wisdom of your words.

and say,‘ Thus says the king:“ Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them,“ Thus says God:‘ Why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the Lord, He also has forsaken you.’”So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord.Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son; and as he died, he said,“ The Lord look on it, and repay!”
