For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared to her.

for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things– indeed, I regard them as dung!– that I may gain Christ,and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness– a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ’s faithfulness.

There is gold, and an abundance of rubies, but words of knowledge are like a precious jewel.

Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding; do not forget and do not turn aside from the words I speak.Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will guard you.Wisdom is supreme– so acquire wisdom, and whatever you acquire, acquire understanding!

For this reason I love your commands more than gold, even purest gold.

For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?
