恐我飽飫、而不識爾、謂耶和華為誰、或貧乏而行竊、褻瀆我上帝之名、○

恐富而侈、不崇事耶和華、或貧而盜、妄發誓言。

我若富、恐我飽而不認主、云主為誰、我若貧、恐我盜竊、以致妄稱我天主之名、○

Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say,‘ Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

If you don’t, I might have too much. Then I might say I don’t know you. I might say,‘ Who is the Lord?’ Or I might become poor and steal. Then I would bring shame to the name of my God.

lest I be full and deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Otherwise, I might have too much and deny you, saying,“ Who is the LORD?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

So that I will not be full and deny You and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And that I will not become impoverished and steal, And profane the name of my God.

Lest I be full and deny You, And say,“ Who is the Lord?” Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God.

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

Otherwise, I might have too much and deny You, saying,“ Who is the Lord?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

Lest I be full, and deny[ thee], and say, Who[ is] the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God[ in vain].

lest I become satisfied and act deceptively and say,“ Who is the LORD?” Or lest I become poor and steal and demean the name of my God.

lest I be full, deny you, and say,‘ Who is Yahweh?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me. (niv)

When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant. (niv)

“‘ Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. (niv)

When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down,and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied,then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “ If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold,‘ You are my security,’if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained,if I have regarded the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor,so that my heart was secretly enticed and my hand offered them a kiss of homage,then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high. Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food, they became heavy and sleek. They abandoned the God who made them and rejected the Rock their Savior. (niv)

When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you— a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build,houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant— then when you eat and are satisfied,be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Pharaoh said,“ Who is the Lord, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go.” (niv)

They captured fortified cities and fertile land; they took possession of houses filled with all kinds of good things, wells already dug, vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees in abundance. They ate to the full and were well-nourished; they reveled in your great goodness.“ But they were disobedient and rebelled against you; they turned their backs on your law. They killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you; they committed awful blasphemies. (niv)

Now do not let Hezekiah deceive you and mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my predecessors. How much less will your god deliver you from my hand!”Sennacherib’s officers spoke further against the Lord God and against his servant Hezekiah.The king also wrote letters ridiculing the Lord, the God of Israel, and saying this against him:“ Just as the gods of the peoples of the other lands did not rescue their people from my hand, so the god of Hezekiah will not rescue his people from my hand.” (niv)

The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil. (niv)

People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house. (niv)

The accomplices of thieves are their own enemies; they are put under oath and dare not testify. (niv)

Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them,“ I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed. (niv)

“‘ If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible. (niv)

They shouted,“ This is the voice of a god, not of a man.”Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. (niv)

And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, because the splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect, declares the Sovereign Lord.“‘ But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his. (niv)

He denied it again, with an oath:“ I don’t know the man!” (niv)

he said,“ Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?” (niv)

“‘ The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of people.’ (niv)
