The righteous considers the cause of the poor, But the wicked does not understand such knowledge.

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

Those who do what is right want to treat poor people fairly. But those who do what is wrong don’t care about the poor.

A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.

The godly care about the rights of the poor; the wicked don’t care at all.

The righteous person knows the rights of the poor, but the wicked one does not understand these concerns.

I was a father to the poor, And I searched out the case that I did not know.

Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die.Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself and not be heard.

Was not this knowing Me?” says the Lord.“ Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence.”

So when David’s young men came, they spoke to Nabal according to all these words in the name of David, and waited.Then Nabal answered David’s servants, and said,“ Who is David, and who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants nowadays who break away each one from his master.Shall I then take my bread and my water and my meat that I have killed for my shearers, and give it to men when I do not know where they are from?”

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

“ If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me,

I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, For You have considered my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities,

In you they have made light of father and mother; in your midst they have oppressed the stranger; in you they have mistreated the fatherless and the widow.

And I said:“ Hear now, O heads of Jacob, And you rulers of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice?You who hate good and love evil; Who strip the skin from My people, And the flesh from their bones;Who also eat the flesh of My people, Flay their skin from them, Break their bones, And chop them in pieces Like meat for the pot, Like flesh in the caldron.”Then they will cry to the Lord, But He will not hear them; He will even hide His face from them at that time, Because they have been evil in their deeds.

They have grown fat, they are sleek; Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked; They do not plead the cause, The cause of the fatherless; Yet they prosper, And the right of the needy they do not defend.
