The righteous person cares for the legal rights of the poor; the wicked does not understand such knowledge.

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

Those who do what is right want to treat poor people fairly. But those who do what is wrong don’t care about the poor.

A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.

The godly care about the rights of the poor; the wicked don’t care at all.

The righteous person knows the rights of the poor, but the wicked one does not understand these concerns.

The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor; The wicked does not understand such concern.

The righteous considers the cause of the poor, But the wicked does not understand such knowledge.

The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; The wicked hath not understanding to know it.

The righteous person knows the rights of the poor, but the wicked one does not understand these concerns.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor:[ but] the wicked regardeth not to know[ it].

The righteous care about justice for the poor. The wicked aren’t concerned about knowledge.

I was a father to the needy, and I investigated the case of the person I did not know;

How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly! When trouble comes, the LORD delivers him.

Open your mouth on behalf of those unable to speak, for the legal rights of all the dying.Open your mouth, judge in righteousness, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

The one who shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered.

The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. So things went well for Judah.’ The LORD says,‘ That is a good example of what it means to know me.’But you are always thinking and looking for ways to increase your wealth by dishonest means. Your eyes and your heart are set on killing some innocent person and committing fraud and oppression.

So David’s servants went and spoke all these words to Nabal in David’s name. Then they paused.But Nabal responded to David’s servants,“ Who is David, and who is this son of Jesse? This is a time when many servants are breaking away from their masters!Should I take my bread and my water and my meat that I have slaughtered for my shearers and give them to these men? I don’t even know where they came from!”

Brothers and sisters, if a person is discovered in some sin, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. Pay close attention to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too.

“ If I have disregarded the right of my male servants or my female servants when they disputed with me,

I will be happy and rejoice in your faithfulness, because you notice my pain and you are aware of how distressed I am.

They have treated father and mother with contempt within you; they have oppressed the foreigner among you; they have wronged the orphan and the widow within you.

I said,“ Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the nation of Israel! You ought to know what is just,yet you hate what is good, and love what is evil. You flay my people’s skin and rip the flesh from their bones.You devour my people’s flesh, strip off their skin, and crush their bones. You chop them up like flesh in a pot– like meat in a kettle.Someday these sinners will cry to the LORD for help, but he will not answer them. He will hide his face from them at that time, because they have done such wicked deeds.”

That is how they have grown fat and sleek. There is no limit to the evil things they do. They do not plead the cause of the fatherless in such a way as to win it. They do not defend the rights of the poor.
