By justice a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down.

By doing what is fair, a king makes a country secure. But those who only want money tear it down.

By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts tears it down.

A just king gives stability to his nation, but one who demands bribes destroys it.

By justice a king brings stability to a land, but a person who demands“ contributions” demolishes it.

The king gives stability to the land by justice, But a person who takes bribes ruins it.

The king establishes the land by justice, But he who receives bribes overthrows it.

The king by justice establisheth the land; But he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.

This is what the Lord says:“ In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, (niv)

“ You have done a foolish thing,” Samuel said.“ You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. (niv)

By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just; (niv)

Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (niv)

Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on his throne as king to rule for the Lord your God. Because of the love of your God for Israel and his desire to uphold them forever, he has made you king over them, to maintain justice and righteousness.” (niv)

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. During his entire reign he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.Then Pul king of Assyria invaded the land, and Menahem gave him a thousand talents of silver to gain his support and strengthen his own hold on the kingdom.Menahem exacted this money from Israel. Every wealthy person had to contribute fifty shekels of silver to be given to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and stayed in the land no longer. (niv)

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. (niv)
