不要吃吝嗇人的飯，不可貪圖他的美味。

不可吃吝嗇人的飯，也不可貪戀他的美食。

不可喫小心眼兒人的飯；不可貪好他的美味；

你不要吃吝嗇人的餅，也不要貪戀他的美食；

勿食眈眈者之餅、勿貪其珍饈、

宴友而睚眦、勿與共食、貪其珍錯。

勿坐吝嗇人之席、勿貪其珍饈、

Do not eat the food of a begrudging host, do not crave his delicacies;

Don’t eat the food of anyone who doesn’t want to share it. Don’t long for his fancy food.

Do not eat the bread of a man who is stingy; do not desire his delicacies,

但以理决心不让王的美食和王所饮用的酒玷污自己；于是请求太监总管允许他不因这些玷污自己。神使但以理在太监总管面前蒙恩慈和怜悯。太监总管对但以理说：“我惧怕我主我王，他已经指定了你们的食物和饮物。为什么要让他看到你们的脸色与你们同龄的年轻人相比显得憔悴呢？你们会使我的头在王面前保不住！”

心眼良善的必蒙祝福，因为他把自己的粮食分给贫弱者。

贪婪的人，急切要发财，但他不明白穷乏将临到他。
