One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a friend.

A person who has a pure and loving heart and speaks kindly will be a friend of the king.

He who loves purity of heart, and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend.

Whoever loves a pure heart and gracious speech will have the king as a friend.

The one who loves a pure heart and gracious lips— the king is his friend.

He who loves purity of heart And has grace on his lips, The king will be his friend.

He that loveth pureness of heart, For the grace of his lips the king will be his friend.

Then the king made Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego prosperous in the province of Babylon.

Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and paid humble respect to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and incense.The king responded to Daniel and said,“ Your God truly is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets, since you have been able to reveal this secret.”Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon, and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.And Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego over the administration of the province of Babylon, while Daniel was at the king’s court.

For Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews and in favor with his many kinsmen, one who sought the good of his people and one who spoke for the welfare of his entire nation.

And when he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king began speaking and said to Daniel,“ Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you continually serve, been able to rescue you from the lions?”Then Daniel spoke to the king,“ O king, live forever!My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, since I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”Then the king was very glad and gave orders for Daniel to be lifted up out of the den. So Daniel was lifted up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

You are the most handsome of the sons of mankind; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever.

And all the people were speaking well of Him, and admiring the gracious words which were coming from His lips; and yet they were saying,“ Is this not Joseph’s son?”

So this Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a scribe skilled in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all he requested because the hand of the Lord his God was upon him.Some of the sons of Israel and some of the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylon; and on the first of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, because the good hand of his God was upon him.For Ezra had firmly resolved to study the Law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.Now this is the copy of the letter which King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, learned in the words of the commandments of the Lord and His statutes to Israel:

So Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ Since God has informed you of all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you are.You shall be in charge of my house, and all my people shall be obedient to you; only regarding the throne will I be greater than you.”Pharaoh also said to Joseph,“ See, I have placed you over all the land of Egypt.”Then Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen, and put the gold necklace around his neck.And he had him ride in his second chariot; and they proclaimed ahead of him,“ Bow the knee!” And he placed him over all the land of Egypt.Moreover, Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ Though I am Pharaoh, yet without your permission no one shall raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”Then Pharaoh named Joseph Zaphenath paneah; and he gave him Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, to be his wife. And Joseph went out over the land of Egypt.Now Joseph was thirty years old when he stood in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went through all the land of Egypt.During the seven years of plenty the land produced abundantly.So he collected all the food of these seven years which occurred in the land of Egypt and put the food in the cities; he put in every city the food from its own surrounding fields.Joseph stored up grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he stopped measuring it, for it was beyond measure.Now before the year of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh;“ For,” he said,“ God has made me forget all my trouble and all of my father’s household.”And he named the second Ephraim;“ For,” he said,“ God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”When the seven years of plenty which had taken place in the land of Egypt came to an end,and the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said, then there was famine in all the lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.So when all the land of Egypt suffered famine, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians,“ Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, you shall do.”When the famine was spread over the entire face of the earth, then Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians; and the famine was severe in the land of Egypt.Then the people of all the earth came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe in all the earth.

Then the king said to me,“ What would you request?” So I prayed to the God of heaven.Then I said to the king,“ If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor before you, I request that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.”Then the king said to me, with the queen sitting beside him,“ How long will your journey be, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me, and I gave him a definite time.
