A foolish person turns their back on their parent’s correction. But anyone who accepts correction shows understanding.

Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.

A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not respond to rebukes.

These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

“ And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

“ Now, my son, the Lord be with you, and may you have success and build the house of the Lord your God, as he said you would.May the Lord give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the Lord gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.

For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life,

In the course of time, Absalom provided himself with a chariot and horses and with fifty men to run ahead of him.He would get up early and stand by the side of the road leading to the city gate. Whenever anyone came with a complaint to be placed before the king for a decision, Absalom would call out to him,“ What town are you from?” He would answer,“ Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel.”Then Absalom would say to him,“ Look, your claims are valid and proper, but there is no representative of the king to hear you.”And Absalom would add,“ If only I were appointed judge in the land! Then everyone who has a complaint or case could come to me and I would see that they receive justice.”Also, whenever anyone approached him to bow down before him, Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him and kiss him.Absalom behaved in this way toward all the Israelites who came to the king asking for justice, and so he stole the hearts of the people of Israel.

So he said to them,“ Why do you do such things? I hear from all the people about these wicked deeds of yours.No, my sons; the report I hear spreading among the Lord’s people is not good.If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?” His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death.

Let a righteous man strike me— that is a kindness; let him rebuke me— that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers.

The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.

David also said to Solomon his son,“ Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.
