Good news from a distant land is like cold water to a parched throat.

Night will no longer exist, and people will not need lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever.

Light is sweet, and it is pleasing for the eyes to see the sun.

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

The Lord will always lead you, satisfy you in a parched land, and strengthen your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring whose waters never run dry.

But now, for a brief moment, grace has come from Yahweh our God to preserve a remnant for us and give us a stake in His holy place. Even in our slavery, God has given us new life and light to our eyes.

Happy are the people who know the joyful shout; Yahweh, they walk in the light of Your presence.

This will be healing for your body and strengthening for your bones.

But the angel said to them,“ Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people:Today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in cloth and lying in a feeding trough.”Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people He favors!When the angels had left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another,“ Let’s go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the feeding trough.After seeing them, they reported the message they were told about this child,and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them.

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because God’s glory illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is put out.
