貪貨財者擾己家、惡賄賂者得生存、

貪貨利者無家室之安、惡苞苴者得生命之樂。

貪利者擾害己家、惡賄者必得生存、

The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live.

Those who always want more bring ruin to their households. But a person who refuses to be paid to lie will live.

Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live.

Greed brings grief to the whole family, but those who hate bribes will live.

The one who profits dishonestly troubles his household, but the one who hates bribes will live.

He who profits illicitly troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes will live.

He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he that hateth bribes shall live.

You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.

Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever.” And he went out from his presence leprous, as white as snow.

Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

Woe to those who join house to house; They add field to field, Till there is no place Where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!In my hearing the Lord of hosts said,“ Truly, many houses shall be desolate, Great and beautiful ones, without inhabitant.For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, And a homer of seed shall yield one ephah.”

Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff.Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you.

“ Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster!You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul.For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the beam from the timbers will answer it.

He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil:He will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread will be given him, His water will be sure.

An inheritance gained hastily at the beginning Will not be blessed at the end.

Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

As righteousness leads to life, So he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death.

But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah,and said to him,“ Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor.And Joshua said,“ Why have you troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day.” So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole earth:‘ Every thief shall be expelled,’ according to this side of the scroll; and,‘ Every perjurer shall be expelled,’ according to that side of it.”“ I will send out the curse,” says the Lord of hosts;“ It shall enter the house of the thief And the house of the one who swears falsely by My name. It shall remain in the midst of his house And consume it, with its timber and stones.”

The king establishes the land by justice, But he who receives bribes overthrows it.

A ruler who lacks understanding is a great oppressor, But he who hates covetousness will prolong his days.
