Poor is one who works with a lazy hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Hands that don’t want to work make you poor. But hands that work hard bring wealth to you.

A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich.

Laziness casts one into a deep sleep, And a lazy person will suffer hunger.

The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy hand will be put to forced labor.

Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Do not love sleep, or you will become poor; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with food.

The lazy one buries his hand in the dish, But will not even bring it back to his mouth.

Go to the ant, you lazy one, Observe its ways and be wise,Which, having no chief, Officer, or ruler,Prepares its food in the summer And gathers its provision in the harvest.How long will you lie down, you lazy one? When will you arise from your sleep?“ A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest,”Then your poverty will come in like a drifter, And your need like an armed man.

There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in poverty.

And we desire that each one of you demonstrate the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and endurance inherit the promises.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge,and in your knowledge, self control, and in your self control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they do not make you useless nor unproductive in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.For the one who lacks these qualities is blind or short sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choice of you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;

Through extreme laziness the rafters sag, and through idleness the house leaks.
