“ When they cry for help, I will not answer. Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me.

那時，你們必呼求我，我卻不答應，懇切地尋找我，卻尋不見。

那時，他們就會呼求我，我卻不回答，懇切尋求我，卻尋不見。

那時，他們將呼求我，我卻不回應；他們將切切尋找我，卻找不到。

斯時呼籲我、我弗應、切尋我、而弗得、

斯時籲我、而我弗聽、竭力求恩、而不可得。

斯時呼籲我而我不應、尋求我而不得遇、

“ Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me,

“ Then you will call to me. But I won’t answer. You will look for me. But you won’t find me.

Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me.

Then they will call me, but I won’t answer; they will search for me, but won’t find me.

Then you beg the Lord for help in times of trouble! Do you really expect him to answer? After all the evil you have done, he won’t even look at you!”

And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong— you want only what will give you pleasure.

Will God listen to their cry when trouble comes upon them?

Therefore, this is what the Lord says: I am going to bring calamity upon them, and they will not escape. Though they beg for mercy, I will not listen to their cries.

When they fast, I will pay no attention. When they present their burnt offerings and grain offerings to me, I will not accept them. Instead, I will devour them with war, famine, and disease.”

“ Since they refused to listen when I called to them, I would not listen when they called to me, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.

Therefore, I will respond in fury. I will neither pity nor spare them. And though they cry for mercy, I will not listen.”

“ But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling,‘ Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’“ But he called back,‘ Believe me, I don’t know you!’

When that day comes, you will beg for relief from this king you are demanding, but then the Lord will not help you.”

On judgment day many will say to me,‘ Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’But I will reply,‘ I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

They called for help, but no one came to their rescue. They even cried to the Lord, but he refused to answer.

And when they cry out, God does not answer because of their pride.

When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading,‘ Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply,‘ I don’t know you or where you come from.’Then you will say,‘ But we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’And he will reply,‘ I tell you, I don’t know you or where you come from. Get away from me, all you who do evil.’“ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, for you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, but you will be thrown out.

“ I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me.

When God began killing them, they finally sought him. They repented and took God seriously.Then they remembered that God was their rock, that God Most High was their redeemer.But all they gave him was lip service; they lied to him with their tongues.

Then the Lord said,“ My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.”

Then I will return to my place until they admit their guilt and turn to me. For as soon as trouble comes, they will earnestly search for me.”“ Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces; now he will heal us. He has injured us; now he will bandage our wounds.In just a short time he will restore us, so that we may live in his presence.Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.”“ O Israel and Judah, what should I do with you?” asks the Lord.“ For your love vanishes like the morning mist and disappears like dew in the sunlight.
