But the wisdom that comes from heaven is pure. That’s the most important thing about it. And that’s not all. It also loves peace. It thinks about others. It obeys. It is full of mercy and good fruit. It is fair. It doesn’t pretend to be what it is not.

Do what is good. Set an example for them in everything. When you teach, be honest and serious.

Love must be honest and true. Hate what is evil. Hold on to what is good.Love one another deeply. Honor others more than yourselves.Stay excited about your faith as you serve the Lord.When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful.Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Welcome others into your homes.Bless those who hurt you. Bless them, and do not curse them.Be joyful with those who are joyful. Be sad with those who are sad.Agree with one another. Don’t be proud. Be willing to be a friend of people who aren’t considered important. Don’t think that you are better than others.Don’t pay back evil with evil. Be careful to do what everyone thinks is right.If possible, live in peace with everyone. Do that as much as you can.My dear friends, don’t try to get even. Leave room for God to show his anger. It is written,“ I am the God who judges people. I will pay them back,”( Deuteronomy 32:35) says the Lord.Do just the opposite. Scripture says,“ If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. By doing those things, you will pile up burning coals on their heads.”( Proverbs 25:21, 22)Don’t let evil overcome you. Overcome evil by doing good.

But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful

We are trying hard to do what both the Lord and people think is right.

God’s power has given us everything we need to lead a godly life. All of this has come to us because we know the God who chose us. He chose us because of his own glory and goodness.He has also given us his very great and valuable promises. He did it so you could share in his nature. You can share in it because you’ve escaped from the evil in the world. This evil is caused by sinful desires.So you should try very hard to add goodness to your faith. To goodness, add knowledge.To knowledge, add the ability to control yourselves. To the ability to control yourselves, add the strength to keep going. To the strength to keep going, add godliness.To godliness, add kindness for one another. And to kindness for one another, add love.

But test all prophecies. Hold on to what is good.Say no to every kind of evil.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young. Set an example for the believers in what you say and in how you live. Also set an example in how you love and in what you believe. Show the believers how to be pure.

People who don’t believe might say you are doing wrong. But lead good lives among them. Then they will see your good deeds. And they will give glory to God on the day he comes to judge.

Pray for us. We feel sure we have done what is right. We desire to live as we should in every way.

Instead, a church leader must welcome people into his home. He must love what is good. He must control his mind and feelings. He must do what is right. He must be holy. He must control the desires of his body.

The light produces what is completely good, right and true.

You have made yourselves pure by obeying the truth. So you have an honest and true love for each other. So love one another deeply, from your hearts.

Let us act as we should, like people living in the daytime. Have nothing to do with wild parties, and don’t get drunk. Don’t take part in sexual sins or evil conduct. Don’t fight with each other or be jealous of anyone.

Here are the beliefs and way of life that God our Father accepts as pure and without fault. When widows are in trouble, take care of them. Do the same for children who have no parents. And don’t let the world make you impure.

Those who do what is right live without blame. Blessed are their children after them.

Tell the older men that in anything they do, they must not go too far. They must be worthy of respect. They must control themselves. They must have true faith. They must love others. They must not give up.

Our people must learn to commit themselves to doing what is good. Then they can provide for people when they are in great need. If they do that, their lives won’t turn out to be useless.

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders. Make the most of every opportunity.

Most of all, love one another deeply. Love erases many sins by forgiving them.

I pray to God that you won’t do anything wrong. I don’t pray so that people will see that I have passed the test. Instead, I pray this so that you will do what is right, even if it seems I have failed.

The leader must also be respected by those who are outside the church. Then he will not be put to shame. He will not fall into the devil’s trap.In the same way, deacons must be worthy of respect. They must be honest and true. They must not drink too much wine. They must not try to get money by cheating people.

Then unbelievers will have respect for your everyday life. And you won’t have to depend on anyone.

She must be well known for the good things she does. That includes bringing up children. It includes inviting guests into her home. It includes washing the feet of the Lord’s people. It includes helping those who are in trouble. A widow should spend her time doing all kinds of good things.

The God of Israel spoke. The Rock of Israel said to me,‘ A king must rule over people in a way that is right. He must have respect for God when he rules.

Suppose I speak in the languages of human beings or of angels. If I don’t have love, I am only a loud gong or a noisy cymbal.Suppose I have the gift of prophecy. Suppose I can understand all the secret things of God and know everything about him. And suppose I have enough faith to move mountains. If I don’t have love, I am nothing at all.Suppose I give everything I have to poor people. And suppose I give myself over to a difficult life so I can brag. If I don’t have love, I get nothing at all.Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud.It does not dishonor other people. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs.Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when the truth is spoken.It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up.Love never fails. But prophecy will pass away. Speaking in languages that had not been known before will end. And knowledge will pass away.What we know now is not complete. What we prophesy now is not perfect.But when what is complete comes, the things that are not complete will pass away.When I was a child, I talked like a child. I thought like a child. I had the understanding of a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.Now we see only a dim likeness of things. It is as if we were seeing them in a foggy mirror. But someday we will see clearly. We will see face to face. What I know now is not complete. But someday I will know completely, just as God knows me completely.The three most important things to have are faith, hope and love. But the greatest of them is love.

In the same way, the women must be worthy of respect. They must not say things that harm others. In anything they do, they must not go too far. They must be worthy of trust in everything.

The path of godly people is level. You are the God who does what is right. You make their way smooth.

They sent their followers to him. They sent the Herodians with them.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we know that you are a man of honor. You teach the way of God truthfully. You don’t let others tell you what to do or say. You don’t care how important they are.

Give her honor for all that her hands have done. Let everything she has done bring praise to her at the city gate.

Pray for kings. Pray for everyone who is in authority. Pray that we can live peaceful and quiet lives. And pray that we will be godly and holy.

If you do what is right, you won’t need to be afraid of your rulers. But watch out if you do what is wrong! You don’t want to be afraid of those in authority, do you? Then do what is right, and you will be praised.

Do only what is right. Then you will live. You will take over the land the Lord your God is giving you.

So don’t judge anything before the appointed time. Wait until the Lord returns. He will bring to light what is hidden in the dark. He will show the real reasons why people do what they do. At that time each person will receive their praise from God.

Along with Titus, we are sending another brother. All the churches praise him for his service in telling the good news.

Further, my brothers and sisters, be joyful because you belong to the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write about some important matters to you again. If you know about them, you will have a safe path to follow.

No, a person is a Jew only if they are a Jew on the inside. And true circumcision means that the heart has been circumcised by the Holy Spirit. The person whose heart has been circumcised does more than obey the written law. The praise that matters for that kind of person does not come from other people. It comes from God.

So remain strong in the faith. Put the belt of truth around your waist. Put the armor of godliness on your chest.

Treat older women as if they were your mothers. Treat younger women as if they were your sisters. Be completely pure in the way you treat them.

He must manage his own family well. He must make sure that his children obey him. And he must do this in a way that gains him respect.

The men replied,“ We have come from Cornelius, the Roman commander. He is a good man who worships God. All the Jewish people respect him. A holy angel told him to invite you to his house. Then Cornelius can hear what you have to say.”

He gave himself for us. By doing that, he set us free from all evil. He wanted to make us pure. He wanted us to be his very own people. He wanted us to desire to do what is good.

The Lord hates it when people use scales to cheat others. But he is delighted when people use honest weights.

because Herod was afraid of John. So he kept John safe. Herod knew John was a holy man who did what was right. When Herod heard him, he was very puzzled. But he liked to listen to John.

“ A man named Ananias came to see me. He was a godly Jew who obeyed the law. All the Jews living there respected him very much.

His mouth is very sweet. Everything about him is delightful. That’s what the one who loves me is like. That’s what my friend is like, women of Jerusalem.”

I have chosen him. He must direct his children to live in the way that pleases me. And he must direct the members of his family after him to do the same. So he must guide all of them in doing what is right and fair. Then I, the Lord, will do for Abraham what I have promised him.”

Jesus said to them,“ You try to make yourselves look good in the eyes of other people. But God knows your hearts. What people think is worth a lot is hated by God.

A man named Joseph was a member of the Jewish Council. He was a good and honest man.

In Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon. He was a good and godly man. He was waiting for God’s promise to Israel to come true. The Holy Spirit was with him.

We serve God in times of glory and shame. We serve him whether the news about us is bad or good. We are true to our calling. But people treat us as if we were pretenders.

“ When they lived, Saul and Jonathan were loved and respected. When they died, they were not parted. They were faster than eagles. They were stronger than lions.

Dear woman, don’t be afraid. I’ll do for you everything you ask. All the people of my town know that you are an excellent woman.

An excellent woman is her husband’s crown. But a wife who brings shame is like sickness in his bones.

Brothers and sisters, choose seven of your men. They must be known as men who are wise and full of the Holy Spirit. We will turn this important work over to them.

So each of you must get rid of your lying. Speak the truth to your neighbor. We are all parts of one body.

He says,“ Many women do excellent things. But you are better than all the others.”

Who can find an excellent woman? She is worth far more than rubies.

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit. Test the spirits to see if they belong to God. Many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders. I want to encourage you to think in a way that is pure.

That is what the people of long ago were praised for.

Whoever speaks on their own does it to get personal honor. But someone who works for the honor of the one who sent him is truthful. Nothing about him is false.

He says,“ How long will you stand up for those who aren’t fair to others? How long will you show mercy to sinful people?

Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord. He made all the weights in the bag.
