It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you. I love you with all my heart. I may be held by chains, or I may be standing up for the truth of the good news. Either way, all of you share in God’s grace together with me.

It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.

So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News.

只知道聖靈在各城鎮指示我，前面必有監禁和苦難等著我。

我為傳福音成了披枷帶鎖的使者。請你們為我禱告，使我能盡忠職守，放膽傳福音。

後者是出於愛心，知道我是上帝派來維護福音的。前者傳講基督是出於個人野心，動機不純，以為可以增加我在獄中的痛苦。

然而，你們與我共患難，真是太好了。

我為這福音受苦，甚至像犯人一樣被囚禁，但上帝的道是囚禁不住的。

我是基督受苦的見證人，將分享以後所顯明的榮耀。我以長老的身分勸你們中間作長老的：

你們自己就是我們的推薦信，寫在了我們心坎上，眾所周知，人人可讀。

親愛的弟兄姊妹，雖然我們這樣說，卻深信你們的光景比這強，有得救的表現。因為上帝並非不公義，以致忘記你們為祂所做的工作以及你們過去和現在服侍聖徒所表現的愛心。

因此，同蒙天召的聖潔的弟兄姊妹，你們應當仔細思想那位我們公認為特使和大祭司的耶穌。

我覺得應當趁著我還在世的時候提醒你們，激勵你們，

所以，你不要羞於為我們的主做見證，也不要以我這為主被囚的人為恥，要靠著上帝的能力和我一同為福音受苦。

凡事能包容，凡事有信心，凡事有盼望，凡事能忍耐。

我們既然已經在基督耶穌裡，受不受割禮根本無關緊要，藉著愛表現出來的信心才至關重要。

我們常常為你們眾人感謝上帝，為你們禱告，在我們的父上帝面前不斷地想到你們因信我們主耶穌基督而做的工作、因愛祂而受的勞苦和因祂所賜的盼望而激發的忍耐。上帝所愛的弟兄姊妹，我們知道上帝揀選了你們，因為我們傳福音給你們不只是靠言語，也靠上帝的能力、聖靈的同在和充分的確據。你們也知道，我們為了你們的緣故怎樣在你們中間行事為人。

你們都是光明之子，白晝之子。我們既不屬於黑夜，也不屬於黑暗。

我做的一切都是為了福音的緣故，為了要與人分享福音的祝福。

反倒要歡喜，因為你們是與基督一起受苦。這樣，你們在祂的榮耀顯現時可以和祂一同歡喜快樂。

千夫長上前拿住保羅，命人用兩條鐵鏈把他鎖起來，問他是什麼人、做了什麼事。

要為我們禱告，求上帝為我們打開傳道的門，好傳揚基督的奧祕——我就是為此而被囚禁的。

他們被毒打一頓，又被關進監獄，官長命獄卒嚴密看守。獄卒接到命令後把他們關進內牢，雙腳上了枷鎖。半夜，保羅和西拉禱告、唱詩讚美上帝，其他的囚犯都側耳傾聽。

所以，我這為主被囚禁的勸你們，既然蒙了上帝的呼召，就要過與所蒙的呼召相稱的生活。

有時候，你們在眾目睽睽之下被辱駡，受迫害；有時候，你們和遭受這樣苦難的人同舟共濟。你們體恤那些坐牢的人，即使你們的家業被搶奪，仍然甘心忍受，因為你們知道自己有更美的、永遠長存的家業。
