願爾之信、與眾徒共有者、得有功效、得有功效或作可以力行使人知爾曹諸善、乃為耶穌基督而行、

I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.

I pray that what we share by believing will help you understand even more. Then you will completely understand every good thing we share by believing in Christ.

and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.

And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.

吾所為心禱者無他、惟望爾之仁愛與日俱進、發為真知卓見、俾識至善之所在、廓然無疑、馴至誠實無妄、心跡雙清、以俟基督來臨之日；同時仰賴耶穌基督滿結仁義之實、以顯揚天主。

爾等苟能存養此等美德、使之發榮滋長於爾內心、則體認吾主耶穌基督、自覺日益親切、欲罷不能、必不致華而不實也。

吾人逖聽之餘、即不輟為爾祈求、賜爾靈慧妙識、俾能切身體認天主弘旨、臻於圓融洞澈之地；

蓋天主之神力、必能因爾之信德、保爾始終不渝、俾沐將顯於末日之恩澤也。因是爾當拓開心胸、歡欣雀躍。蓋爾目前雖不免殷憂多難、然此乃所以鍛鍊爾之信德、而於耶穌基督顯現之日、玉成爾之光榮及天爵耳。夫黃金乃必朽之物、尚且以火煉之；而信德固貴於黃金也。夫耶穌基督、爾等未之見也而已衷心慕之；雖無所睹而能毅然信之。故爾等歡樂難言、寵榮被身、

爾之光輝、亦當燭照世人、庶幾世人皆見爾善行、而歸榮於爾在天之父。

兄弟乎、或曰我有信德；苟無善行、亦有何益？徒信詎有濟乎？

爾等與異邦人雜處、尤宜慎自檢點、勉立善表、務使謗爾者見爾善行、而頌揚天主於眷顧之日。

凡我同人皆當致力於善濟人之急、庶免虛偽無實。

自覺心中隱念、昭然若揭、則必俯伏而頂禮天主、且自承天主之實與爾偕矣。

是知徒信而無行、則其信、必索然而無生氣也。

是則此項善舉不僅補聖徒之不足、抑且使眾心感謝天主、於以增益天主之光榮。申言之、若輩既見爾等慈善之明徵、必因爾等之服膺聖道及急公好義、而翕然歸榮於天主矣。同時若輩鑒於爾等之滿被聖寵、嚮往之念、必油然而發、且將為爾祈禱矣。

最後尚有一言、以奉兄弟：凡屬真實無妄、溫雅有度、公正高尚、可愛可喜、可歌可泣之事、苟有一德之美、片善之著、皆爾所當盡心也。

何則、天主不負有心人、對於爾等之工作、爾等之敬愛聖名、供養聖徒、至今未懈、天主必不致忘懷也。

為婦者應順服其夫、夫即不信聖道、亦當以平日行為感化之不必徒騰口說也。

心地務求光明磊落、無愧無怍、庶幾因爾從基督而謗爾者、見爾所為皆善、而自慚其誣。
