Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

看哪！我必使你在列国中成为弱小的，你必大受藐视。

看哪，我要使你在列國中為最小，被人大大藐視。

耶和華對以東說：「我要讓你成為列國中最弱小的國家，使你飽受藐視。

看哪！我必使你在列國中成為弱小的，你必大受藐視。

『看吧，我必使你在列國中成為小的；你必極度被藐視。

耶和華曰、我使爾在列邦中為微小、甚被藐視、

維爾以東、我使之卑微、在列邦中為人所藐視、

主謂以東曰、我使爾在列邦中為至微、令爾極被藐視、

“ See, I will make you small among the nations; you will be utterly despised.

The Lord says to Edom,“ I will make you weak among the nations. They will look down on you.

Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you shall be utterly despised.

The Lord says to Edom,“ I will cut you down to size among the nations; you will be greatly despised.

Look, I will make you insignificant among the nations; you will be deeply despised.

“ Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You are greatly despised.

“ Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You shall be greatly despised.

Behold, I have made thee small among the nations: thou art greatly despised.

Look, I will make you insignificant among the nations; you will be deeply despised.

The LORD says,“ Look! I will make you a weak nation; you will be greatly despised!

Behold, I have made you small among the nations. You are greatly despised.

And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.

The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory,[ and] to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.

Then[ she that is] mine enemy shall see[ it], and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,[ and] lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set[ them] among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth[ are] the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.

It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.

Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness,[ where there is] no way.

He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.He hath put down the mighty from[ their] seats, and exalted them of low degree.

Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth[ them] in the night, so that they are destroyed.He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth[ his] face, who then can behold him? whether[ it be done] against a nation, or against a man only:
