And whenever the cloud lifted from over the tent, after that the people of Israel set out, and in the place where the cloud settled down, there the people of Israel camped.

Whenever the cloud lifted from over the sacred tent, the people of Israel would break camp and follow it. And wherever the cloud settled, the people of Israel would set up camp.

Whenever the cloud was lifted up above the tent, the Israelites would set out; at the place where the cloud stopped, there the Israelites camped.

一路上，雲彩從聖幕升起，他們就出發。雲彩不升起，他們就不出發，一直等到雲彩升起。一路上，白天有耶和華的雲彩停留在聖幕上面，夜間雲中有火光為以色列百姓照明。

耶和華說：「我要教導你，引領你走正路；我要勸導你，看顧你。

我就是門，從我進來的必定得救，並且會安然出入，找到草吃。

看門的會給他開門，羊也聽他的聲音。他按名字叫自己的羊，把牠們領出來。領出來之後，自己便走在前面，羊群也跟著他，因為羊認得他的聲音。羊從不跟隨陌生人，見了陌生人就逃跑，因為牠們不認得陌生人的聲音。」

以色列人離開耶和華的山，走了三天的路程，期間耶和華的約櫃一直在隊伍的前頭，為他們尋找安營之地。他們拔營前行的時候，白天總有耶和華的雲彩在他們上面。

你以諄諄教誨指引我，以後必接我到榮耀中。

耶和華回答他說：「我必親自與你同去，使你平安穩妥。」摩西說：「你若不與我們同去，就不要讓我們離開這裡。

第二年的二月二十日，雲彩從安放約櫃的聖幕上升起，以色列人就從西奈曠野啟行，直到雲彩停在巴蘭曠野時才停下來。

他們不再饑渴，也不再被熱風和烈日灼傷，因為憐憫他們的那位必引導他們，領他們到泉水邊。

以色列的牧者啊，你像照顧羊群一樣帶領約瑟的子孫，求你垂聽我們的祈禱。坐在基路伯天使之上的耶和華啊，求你向以法蓮、便雅憫和瑪拿西發出光輝，求你施展大能來拯救我們。
