正月祭司未得成潔、民未咸至耶路撒冷、不能守此禮、故王與群伯及耶路撒冷會眾、議於二月守逾越節。王與會眾以為善。年久民未循例守禮、故立志普告以色列族、自但及別是巴、使咸至耶路撒冷、守逾越節、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華。王與群伯、使趨承者致書、遍以色列猶大二族、曰、以色列族、當歸亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列之上帝、凡不見害於亞述列王之遺民者、必蒙耶和華祐、爾父兄違列祖之上帝耶和華、故見殲滅、今日之事為證、爾勿效尤。毋強爾項、濟乃父之惡、宜從耶和華。彼之聖室、業已成潔、歷世弗替、爾當入之、役事爾之上帝耶和華、則其震怒可息。爾之上帝耶和華仁慈矜憫、如爾歸之、必不棄爾、即爾見虜之子弟、亦蒙矜憫、得反斯土。趨承者遍行以法蓮馬拿西諸邑、延及西布倫為人訕笑。亞設、馬拿西、西布倫中有數人、卑以自牧、詣耶路撒冷。在猶大地上帝使民一心、遵從王與群伯所傳耶和華命。○二月會眾至耶路撒冷、守無酵節、不可勝數。在耶路撒冷、獻祭之壇、焚香之壇、民去之、投於汲淪溪、惟耶和華之壇存焉。二月十四日、人宰逾越節羔、祭司及利未人深以為恥、自潔其身、攜燔祭入耶和華殿、

爾必以是月為正月、而作歲首。當告以色列會眾、曰、是月十日、各家必取一羔。若戶小人寡、一羔不能盡、則與比鄰同取、隨其人數、各如其量。取純潔牡羔、生未盈歲者、綿羊山羊俱可。當留至十四日夕、以色列會眾宰是羔、即於食羔之室、取其血以釁左右橛、及門楣。是夕炙其肉、共無酵餅苦菜而食。勿生食、勿水烹、必火炙、首足與臟皆宜食。毋留其餘於明日、若留於明日者、以火燬之。當束帶納履、執杖而食、其速如欲遁者、是為耶和華逾越節之禮。我耶和華是夜將遍行通國、擊埃及人長子、與畜首生者、凡埃及人之上帝我必敗之。惟汝室以血為徵、我見之、將逾越爾室、擊埃及時、災害不及爾身。歷代當誌是日、必守節期、以奉事我耶和華永著為例。

耶和華諭摩西亞倫曰、循逾越節例、外人不可食。金所購之僕、既受割禮則可食。外人旅於爾家、及為爾傭者、不可食。食羔必於一室、毋攜肉於外、其骨不折。以色列會眾、宜守此禮。有外人旅於爾家、欲奉耶和華、守逾越節、必使其丁男、俱受割禮、然後可入會守之、與爾本支無異。未受割者不可食。爾之本支、及外人旅於爾家者、皆同此例。

此事成、則經言其骨不折、

屆此節期、毋食酵、歷七日、必食無酵餅、以識艱苦、昔爾出埃及、惟恐不速、故當憶是事、畢生勿忘。
