Such people are to observe it in the second month, on the fourteenth day at twilight. They are to eat the animal with unleavened bread and bitter herbs;

but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

They must celebrate it on the 14th day of the second month. They must do so when the sun goes down. They must eat the lamb together with bread made without yeast. They must eat it with bitter plants.

In the second month on the fourteenth day at twilight they shall keep it. They shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

They must offer the Passover sacrifice one month later, at twilight on the fourteenth day of the second month. They must eat the Passover lamb at that time with bitter salad greens and bread made without yeast.

For the king and his officials and the entire congregation in Jerusalem decided to observe the Passover of the LORD in the second month,because they were not able to observe it at the appropriate time. Not enough of the priests had consecrated themselves, and the people hadn’t been gathered together in Jerusalem.The proposal pleased the king and the congregation,so they affirmed the proposal and spread the message throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba to Dan, to come to observe the Passover of the LORD, the God of Israel in Jerusalem, for they hadn’t observed it often, as prescribed.So the couriers went throughout Israel and Judah with letters from the hand of the king and his officials, and according to the king’s command, saying,“ Israelites, return to the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel so that he may return to those of you who remain, who have escaped the grasp of the kings of Assyria.Don’t be like your ancestors and your brothers who were unfaithful to the LORD, the God of their ancestors so that he made them an object of horror as you yourselves see.Don’t become obstinate now like your ancestors did. Give your allegiance to the LORD, and come to his sanctuary that he has consecrated forever. Serve the LORD your God so that he may turn his burning anger away from you,for when you return to the LORD, your brothers and your sons will receive mercy in the presence of their captors and will return to this land. For the LORD your God is gracious and merciful; he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him.”The couriers traveled from city to city in the land of Ephraim and Manasseh as far as Zebulun, but the inhabitants laughed at them and mocked them.But some from Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.Also, the power of God was at work in Judah to unite them to carry out the command of the king and his officials by the word of the LORD.A very large assembly of people was gathered in Jerusalem to observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread in the second month.They proceeded to take away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and they took away the incense altars and threw them into the Kidron Valley.They slaughtered the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. The priests and Levites were ashamed, and they consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings to the LORD’s temple.

“ This month is to be the beginning of months for you; it is the first month of your year.Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month they must each select an animal of the flock according to their fathers’ families, one animal per family.If the household is too small for a whole animal, that person and the neighbor nearest his house are to select one based on the combined number of people; you should apportion the animal according to what each will eat.You must have an unblemished animal, a year-old male; you may take it from either the sheep or the goats.You are to keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; then the whole assembly of the community of Israel will slaughter the animals at twilight.They must take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses where they eat them.They are to eat the meat that night; they should eat it, roasted over the fire along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.Do not eat any of it raw or cooked in boiling water, but only roasted over fire— its head as well as its legs and inner organs.You must not leave any of it until morning; any part of it left until morning you must burn.Here is how you must eat it: You must be dressed for travel, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. You are to eat it in a hurry; it is the LORD’s Passover.“ I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night and strike every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, both people and animals. I am the LORD; I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt.The blood on the houses where you are staying will be a distinguishing mark for you; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will be among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.“ This day is to be a memorial for you, and you must celebrate it as a festival to the LORD. You are to celebrate it throughout your generations as a permanent statute.

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,“ This is the statute of the Passover: no foreigner may eat it.But any slave a man has purchased may eat it, after you have circumcised him.A temporary resident or hired worker may not eat the Passover.It is to be eaten in one house. You may not take any of the meat outside the house, and you may not break any of its bones.The whole community of Israel must celebrate it.If an alien resides among you and wants to observe the LORD’s Passover, every male in his household must be circumcised, and then he may participate; he will become like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat it.The same law will apply to both the native and the alien who resides among you.”

For these things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: Not one of his bones will be broken.

Do not eat leavened bread with it. For seven days you are to eat unleavened bread with it, the bread of hardship— because you left the land of Egypt in a hurry— so that you may remember for the rest of your life the day you left the land of Egypt.

You must observe it at its appointed time on the fourteenth day of this month at twilight; you are to observe it according to all its statutes and ordinances.”
