The towns you give the Levites from the land the Israelites possess are to be given in proportion to the inheritance of each tribe: Take many towns from a tribe that has many, but few from one that has few.”

The towns you give the Levites must come from the land the Israelites have as their own. So the number you give from each tribe will depend on the size of that tribe’s share. Take many towns from a tribe that has many towns. But take only a few towns from a tribe that has only a few.”

And as for the cities that you shall give from the possession of the people of Israel, from the larger tribes you shall take many, and from the smaller tribes you shall take few; each, in proportion to the inheritance that it inherits, shall give of its cities to the Levites.”

These towns will come from the property of the people of Israel. The larger tribes will give more towns to the Levites, while the smaller tribes will give fewer. Each tribe will give property in proportion to the size of its land.”

Of the cities that you give from the Israelites’ territory, you should take more from a larger tribe and less from a smaller one. Each tribe is to give some of its cities to the Levites in proportion to the inheritance it receives.”

As for the cities which you shall give them from the possession of the sons of Israel, you shall take more from the larger, and you shall take fewer from the smaller; each shall give some of his cities to the Levites in proportion to his inheritance which he possesses.”

你們要按宗族家系抽籤分配土地，人口多的多分，人口少的少分，抽到哪塊地就得哪塊地。

利未人便照摩西的話去做。那一天，約有三千人被殺。摩西對利未人說：「今天你們已經把自己奉獻給耶和華了，因為你們大義滅親，祂必賜福給你們。」

他們狂暴兇殘，該受咒詛！我要使他們分散在雅各的子孫中，散居在以色列各地。

摩西祝福利未支派說：「耶和華啊，求你把土明和烏陵賜給虔誠的利未人，你曾經在瑪撒試驗他們，在米利巴泉邊與他們爭論。為了聽從你的話，遵守你的約，他們不畏冒犯父母，捨棄弟兄，拋下兒女。他們把你的典章傳授給雅各，把你的律法傳授給以色列；他們要把香獻在你面前，把全牲燔祭獻在你的壇上。耶和華啊，求你賜他們力量，悅納他們的工作，擊碎仇敵的腰桿，使敵人一蹶不振。」

這不是說要別人脫離困境，要你們陷入困境，乃是要均平。現在你們這些富足的人可以幫補那些有需要的人，以便你們有需要的時候，那些富足的人也可以幫補你們，這樣才均平。

後來，他們用俄梅珥量的時候，就發現多拾的沒有剩餘，少拾的也沒有缺乏，剛好是每人所需要的量。

利未人的眾族長到迦南的示羅見祭司以利亞撒、嫩的兒子約書亞和以色列各支派的首領，說：「耶和華藉著摩西曾吩咐你們把一些城邑分給我們住，讓我們可以在城郊牧養牲畜。」
