犯了死罪的杀人凶手必须偿命，不可让他付赎金免死。

故杀人、犯死罪的，你们不可收赎价代替他的命；他必被治死。

“‘ Do not accept a ransom for the life of a murderer, who deserves to die. They are to be put to death.

Moreover, you shall accept no ransom for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death, but he shall be put to death.

约押虽然没有支持押沙龙，但却支持了亚多尼雅。他听见风声，就逃进圣幕，抓住祭坛的角。有人把这消息告诉所罗门王，说约押已经逃进圣幕，躲在祭坛旁边。所罗门就派耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅去杀他。比拿雅来到耶和华的圣幕，对约押说：“王吩咐你出来！”约押却回答说：“不，我要死在这里。”比拿雅回去禀告王。王说：“你就照他的话成全他吧，你要埋葬他，把他滥杀无辜的罪从我和我父亲家清除。耶和华要让他血债血还。因为他背着我父亲杀了两名比他良善正直的人，即尼珥的儿子以色列元帅押尼珥和益帖的儿子犹大元帅亚玛撒。所以，杀这二人的血债必永远归到约押和他后代身上。愿耶和华的平安永远伴随大卫和他的后代、他的家、他的国。”耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅就去把约押杀死，葬在旷野约押自己的墓地。

倘若是蓄意杀人，就算他逃到我的祭坛那里，也要把他拉出来处死。

凡是杀人害命的，无论人或兽，我必向他们追讨血债。凡杀人的，我必追讨他的血债。凡杀害人的，也必被人杀害，因为人是上帝照着自己的形象造的。

“如果有人因憎恨邻居而暗中埋伏，杀了邻居，然后逃到避难城，他本城的长老要派人去把他带回来，交给复仇的人，将他处死。不可怜悯他，要从以色列除掉这种滥杀无辜的罪，这样你们才会顺利。

拯救我的上帝啊，求你赦免我杀人流血的罪，使我颂扬你的公义。

大卫对拿单说：“我得罪了耶和华。”拿单说：“耶和华已经赦免了你的罪，使你不致死亡。
