The assembly must protect the one accused of murder from the avenger of blood and send the accused back to the city of refuge to which they fled. The accused must stay there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

The court must provide a safe place for the person accused of murder. It must keep the one accused of murder safe from those who want to kill them. The court must send the accused person back to the city they ran to for safety. The accused person must stay there until the high priest dies. That priest has been anointed with holy oil.

And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

“如果受膏的祭司犯了罪，使人民陷在罪里，他就要为自己所犯的罪，献一头没有残疾的公牛给耶和华作赎罪祭。

“在兄弟中作大祭司的，头上倒了膏油，又受了圣职，得以穿着圣衣，就不可披头散发，也不可撕裂衣服。

所以，弟兄们！我们凭着耶稣的血，可以坦然无惧地进入至圣所。这进入的路，是他给我们开辟的，是一条通过幔子、又新又活的路，这幔子就是他的身体。我们既然有一位伟大的祭司治理神的家，我们良心的邪恶既然被洒净，身体也用清水洗净了，那么，我们就应该怀着真诚的心和完备的信，进到神面前；

但他们却因着神的恩典，藉着在基督耶稣里的救赎，就白白地称义。神设立了耶稣为赎罪祭（“赎罪祭”直译作“赎罪或使神息怒之法”），是凭着他的血，藉着人的信，为的是要显明神的义；因为神用忍耐的心宽容了人从前所犯的罪，好在现今显明他的义，使人知道他自己为义，又称信耶稣的人为义。

然后把膏油倒在亚伦的头上，膏立他，使他分别为圣。

他不是用山羊和牛犊的血，而是用自己的血，只一次进了至圣所，就得到了永远的救赎。如果山羊和公牛的血，以及母牛犊的灰，洒在不洁的人身上，尚且可以使他们成为圣洁，身体洁净，何况基督的血呢？他藉着永远的灵，把自己无瑕无疵的献给神，他的血不是更能洁净我们的良心脱离致死的行为，使我们可以事奉永活的神吗？因此，他作了新约的中保，藉着他的死，使人在前约之下的过犯得到救赎，就叫那些蒙召的人，得着永远基业的应许。

因此，那些靠着他进到神面前的人，他都能拯救到底；因为他长远活着，为他们代求。这样的一位大祭司，对我们本是合适的。他是圣洁、没有邪恶、没有玷污、从罪人中分别出来、高过众天的。他不必像那些大祭司，天天先为自己的罪献祭，然后为人民的罪献祭；因为他献上了自己，就把这事一次而永远的成全了。律法所立的大祭司，都是软弱的人；可是在律法以后，用誓言所立的儿子，却是成为完全直到永远的。

基督既然藉着十字架消灭了仇恨，就藉着十字架使双方与神和好，成为一体，并且他来把和平的福音传给你们在远处的人，也给在近处的人。我们双方都藉着他，在同一位圣灵里，可以进到父面前。

因为那误杀人的应该住在避难城中，直到大祭司死了；大祭司死了以后，那误杀人的才可以回到他自己地业去。

我们既然有一位伟大的、经过了众天的大祭司，就是神的儿子耶稣，就应该坚持所宣认的信仰。因为我们的大祭司并不是不能同情我们的软弱，他像我们一样，也曾在各方面受过试探，只是他没有犯罪。所以，我们只管坦然无惧地来到施恩的宝座前，为的是要领受怜悯，得到恩惠，作为及时的帮助。
