永恆主從遠方向以色列顯現，說：我以永遠的愛愛了你，因此我對你延長我的堅愛。

凡被點閱的利未人、就是摩西、亞倫照永恆主所吩咐要按家族而點閱的，一切男的、從一個月和以上的、有二萬二千人。永恆主對摩西說：『你要點閱以色列人中一切頭胎的男子、從一個月和以上的，登記他們名字的數目。

愛我的、我也愛他們；懇切尋求我的、必尋得到我。

凡有血肉的、一切頭胎的、無論是人是牲口、他們所獻與永恆主的、都要歸與你；只是人類頭胎的、你總要贖出來；不潔淨的牲口頭胎的、你也要贖出來。從滿月以外所當贖出來的、你要照你估定的價、按聖所的平、用銀子五舍客勒贖出來；一舍客勒是二十季拉。

一切頭胎的男子、根據人名的數目、從一個月和以上的、被點閱的、有二萬二千二百七十三人。

耶穌看見就惱怒，對他們說：『容許小孩子來找我，別禁止他們了；因為上帝的國正是這樣的人的。

惟獨利未人、按他們父系的支派、沒有被點閱於其中。
