他不像那些大祭司，每日必須先為自己的罪，後為百姓的罪獻祭，因為他只一次將自己獻上就把這事成全了。

耶和華的旨意要壓傷他，使他受苦。當他的生命作為贖罪祭時，他必看見後裔，他的年日必然長久。耶和華所喜悅的事，必在他手中亨通。

「為你百姓和你聖城，已經定了七十個七，要止住罪過，除淨罪惡，贖盡罪孽，引進永恆的公義，封住異象和預言，並膏至聖所。你當知道，當明白，從發出命令恢復並重建耶路撒冷，直到受膏的君出現，必有七個七和六十二個七。耶路撒冷城連街帶濠都必在艱難中恢復並重建。過了六十二個七，那受膏者被剪除，一無所有；必有一王的百姓來毀滅這城和聖所，它的結局必如洪水沖沒。必有戰爭，一直到末了，荒涼的事已經定了。

亞倫要把那抽中歸給耶和華的山羊牽來獻為贖罪祭，

他也無須多次將自己獻上，像大祭司每年帶着牛羊的血進入至聖所。如果這樣，他從創世以來就必須多次受苦了。但如今，他在今世的末期顯現，僅一次把自己獻為祭，好除掉罪。按着命定，人人都有一死，死後且有審判。同樣，基督既然一次獻上，擔當了許多人的罪，將來要第二次顯現，與罪無關，而是為了拯救熱切等候他的人。

除了初一的燔祭和同獻的素祭、經常獻的燔祭與同獻的素祭，以及同獻的澆酒祭以外，這些都照例作為馨香的火祭獻給耶和華。」
