Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him.

Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of his father David; and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask me what I should do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”He said,“ You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”

Then the Spirit of the Lord will rush upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be changed into a different man.

The Lord highly honored Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him royal majesty which had not been bestowed on any king before him in Israel.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho opposite him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah has settled on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

Then I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take away some of the Spirit who is upon you, and put Him upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you will not bear it by yourself.
