If his father had no brothers, give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan, that he may possess it. This is to have the force of law for the Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses.’”

波阿斯对那至亲说：“从摩押地回来的拿娥米，现在要卖我们弟兄以利米勒的那块地。我想我应该向你说清楚：你可以买那块地，当着在座的众人和我百姓的长老面前，你若要赎就赎吧！倘若你不赎就告诉我，让我知道，因为除了你以外，没有人可以先赎，在你之后才轮到我。”那人说：“我要赎。”波阿斯说：“你从拿娥米和摩押女子路得手中买这地的时候，也当买死人的妻子，使死人在产业上留名。”那至亲说：“这样我就不能赎了，免得对我的产业有损。你尽管去赎我所当赎的吧，我不能赎了！”

他的叔伯或叔伯的儿子可以赎他。他家族中的骨肉之亲也可以赎他。他自己若手头渐渐宽裕，也可以赎回自己。

“你的弟兄若渐渐贫穷，卖了他的一些产业，他的至亲就要来把弟兄所卖的赎回。

从那日起，大卫定此为以色列的律例典章，直到今日。
