If his father had no brothers, give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan, that he may possess it. This is to have the force of law for the Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses.’”

Suppose his father doesn’t have any brothers. Then give his property to the nearest male relative in his family group. It will belong to him. That is what the law will require of the Israelites. It is just as the Lord commanded me.’ ”

我叔叔的兒子哈拿篾果然照著耶和華的話，到衛兵的院子裡來見我，對我說：‘請你買下我在便雅憫境內亞拿突的那塊田地，因為你有那產業的繼承權，以及近親的權利和義務；請你把它買下吧。’於是我知道這是耶和華的話。

他對那個有買贖權的近親說：“從摩押地回來的拿俄米，現在要賣我們族兄以利米勒的那塊地；我想把這一件事告訴你，請你在眾民的長老，還有在座的各位面前，把它買下來吧。如果你肯贖就贖，假如不肯，就說出來，讓我知道；因為除了你當贖它之外，我是第一候補。”那人說：“我肯贖。”波阿斯說：“你從拿俄米手中買下那塊地的時候，你也得娶（“娶”原文作“買”）已死的人的妻子摩押女子路得，使已死的人的名字留在他的產業上。”那有買贖權的近親說：“那我就不能贖它了，只怕損害了我的產業。你可以贖我當贖的，因為我沒有辦法贖了。”

他的叔伯或是他叔伯的兒子可以贖他，他家族中的骨肉至親也可以贖他；如果他自己的經濟能力改善，也可以自贖。

如果你的兄弟貧窮，賣了部分地業，他的至親可以來，把兄弟所賣的贖回。

從那天起，大衛定此為以色列的律例典章，直到今日。
