摩西對亞倫說：“你要拿著香爐，把壇上的火盛在裡頭，又加上香，快快帶到會眾那裡去，為他們贖罪，因為有震怒從耶和華面前出來，瘟疫已經開始了。”亞倫照著摩西吩咐的把香爐拿來，跑到會眾中間，果然，瘟疫已經在人民中間開始了；他就加上香，為人民贖罪。他站在死人與活人中間，瘟疫就止住了。

於是大衛在那裡為耶和華築了一座壇，獻上燔祭和平安祭。這樣耶和華垂聽了人們為那地的禱告，瘟疫就在以色列人中止住了。

大衛對阿珥楠說：“請把這塊禾場的地讓給我，我要在這裡為耶和華築一座祭壇，請你算足價銀讓給我，使民間的瘟疫可以止息。”

於是摩西對以色列的審判官說：“你們各人要把與巴力．毗珥連合的人都殺了。”

他們的行為觸怒了耶和華，於是有瘟疫在他們中間發生。那時非尼哈站起來，執行刑罰，瘟疫才止息。這就算為他的義，世世代代直到永遠。

“亞倫祭司的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我的烈怒稍消，不向以色列人發作，因為他在他們中間以我忌邪的心為心，使我不因我忌邪的心把他們消滅。
