Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not resort to divination as at other times, but turned his face toward the wilderness.

Balaam saw that the Lord was pleased to give his blessing to Israel. So he didn’t try to use evil magic as he had done at other times. Instead, he turned and looked toward the desert.

When Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go, as at other times, to look for omens, but set his face toward the wilderness.

By now Balaam realized that the Lord was determined to bless Israel, so he did not resort to divination as before. Instead, he turned and looked out toward the wilderness,

巴兰对巴勒说：“你留在燔祭旁边，我到前面去，也许耶和华会来见我。无论祂有什么指示，我必告诉你。”

扫罗对大卫说：“我儿大卫，愿你蒙福。你一定能建功立业，战胜仇敌。”于是，大卫起身离开，扫罗也回家去了。

他领着巴兰登上俯瞰旷野的毗珥山顶。

不过有几件事我要责备你，你那里有人随从巴兰的教导。这巴兰从前教巴勒在以色列人面前布下网罗，使他们吃祭过偶像的食物、犯淫乱的罪。

第二天清早，巴兰对巴勒的使臣说：“你们回去吧，耶和华不准我跟你们去。”

我知道你必做王，以色列国必在你手中得到坚固。

扫罗就带领三千以色列精兵到西弗的旷野去追捕大卫。

就是她们听了巴兰的指使在毗珥引诱以色列人背叛耶和华，以致瘟疫降在耶和华的会众身上。

我奉命祝福，祂已赐福，我不能改变。
