巴兰吟诗预言说：“巴勒引我出亚兰，摩押王请我出东山，说，‘来为我咒诅雅各，来斥责以色列！’

巴兰就作歌，说：“巴勒把我从亚兰领出来，摩押王引我出东山，说：‘来吧，为我咒骂雅各，来啊，咒骂以色列。’

巴蘭便發表言論歌來、說：『巴勒領導我出亞蘭，摩押王領導我出東山，說：「來啊，為我咒詛雅各，來啊，怒罵以色列吧！」

乃作歌曰、巴勒招我於亞蘭、摩押王導我於東岳、曰來、為我詛雅各、詈以色列、

乃作歌曰、摩押王、厥名巴勒、招我於亞蘭、導我於東岳、使詛雅各、詈以色列。

乃作歌曰、巴勒導我自亞蘭、摩押王召我出東山、曰、來、為我咒雅各、為我詛以色列、

Then Balaam spoke his message:“ Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains.‘ Come,’ he said,‘ curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.’

Then Balaam spoke the message he had received from God. He said,“ Balak brought me from the land of Aram. The king of Moab sent for me from the mountains in the east.‘ Come,’ he said.‘ Put a curse on Jacob’s people for me. Come. Speak against Israel.’

And Balaam took up his discourse and said,“ From Aram Balak has brought me, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains:‘ Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, denounce Israel!’

This was the message Balaam delivered:“ Balak summoned me to come from Aram; the king of Moab brought me from the eastern hills.‘ Come,’ he said,‘ curse Jacob for me! Come and announce Israel’s doom.’

Balaam proclaimed his poem: Balak brought me from Aram; the king of Moab, from the eastern mountains:“ Come, put a curse on Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel!”

And he took up his discourse and said,“ From Aram Balak has brought me, Moab’s king from the mountains of the East, saying,‘ Come, declare Jacob cursed for me, And come, curse Israel!’

And he took up his oracle and said:“ Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, From the mountains of the east.‘ Come, curse Jacob for me, And come, denounce Israel!’

And he took up his parable, and said, From Aram hath Balak brought me, The king of Moab from the mountains of the East: Come, curse me Jacob, And come, defy Israel.

sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the Euphrates River, in his native land. Balak said:“ A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me.Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.” (niv)

and he spoke his message:“ The prophecy of Balaam son of Beor, the prophecy of one whose eye sees clearly, (niv)

For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you. (niv)

Then he spoke his message:“ Arise, Balak, and listen; hear me, son of Zippor. (niv)

Then he spoke his message:“ Alas! Who can live when God does this? (niv)

I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old— (niv)

Then he spoke his message:“ The prophecy of Balaam son of Beor, the prophecy of one whose eye sees clearly, (niv)

In that day people will ridicule you; they will taunt you with this mournful song:‘ We are utterly ruined; my people’s possession is divided up. He takes it from me! He assigns our fields to traitors.’” (niv)

Then the Philistine said,“ This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.” (niv)

So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet:“ I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.” (niv)

Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. (niv)

“ Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and scorn, saying,“‘ Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion! How long must this go on?’ (niv)

David said to the Philistine,“ You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (niv)

“ Son of man, set forth an allegory and tell it to the Israelites as a parable. (niv)

When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David’s brother, killed him. (niv)

Then he saw the Kenites and spoke his message:“ Your dwelling place is secure, your nest is set in a rock; (niv)

Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest. (niv)

because I will reward you handsomely and do whatever you say. Come and put a curse on these people for me.” (niv)

and that Jacob had obeyed his father and mother and had gone to Paddan Aram. (niv)

The sons of Shem: Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. (niv)

Now the Israelites had been saying,“ Do you see how this man keeps coming out? He comes out to defy Israel. The king will give great wealth to the man who kills him. He will also give him his daughter in marriage and will exempt his family from taxes in Israel.”David asked the men standing near him,“ What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (niv)

Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty warriors, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. Then the Israelites retreated, (niv)

Go at once to Paddan Aram, to the house of your mother’s father Bethuel. Take a wife for yourself there, from among the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother. (niv)

‘ A people that has come out of Egypt covers the face of the land. Now come and put a curse on them for me. Perhaps then I will be able to fight them and drive them away.’” (niv)

He told them still another parable:“ The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.” (niv)

Then the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away. (niv)

Then I said,“ Sovereign Lord, they are saying of me,‘ Isn’t he just telling parables?’” (niv)
