God met with him, and Balaam said,“ I have prepared seven altars, and on each altar I have offered a bull and a ram.”

Then the Lord met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said,“ Go back to Balak, and thus you shall speak.”

Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Build seven altars for me here, and prepare for me here seven bulls and seven rams.”

They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.

saying,‘ These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’

‘ Why have we fasted,’ they say,‘ and You have not seen? Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?’“ In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, And exploit all your laborers.Indeed you fast for strife and debate, And to strike with the fist of wickedness. You will not fast as you do this day, To make your voice heard on high.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.

And God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you— that you shall do.”

Then God came to Balaam and said,“ Who are these men with you?”

not of works, lest anyone should boast.

I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’
