以色列人为了绕过以东，便从何珥山出发，沿通往红海的路行进。途中，民众心里烦躁，

They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;

The Israelites traveled from Mount Hor along the way to the Red Sea. They wanted to go around Edom. But they grew tired on the way.

From Mount Hor they set out by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. And the people became impatient on the way.

后来，他们走过旷野，绕过以东和摩押，到了摩押的东边，在摩押的边界亚嫩河东岸扎营，并没有进入摩押境内。

摩西把这番话转告百姓，可是他们因为残酷的劳役无比沮丧，不肯听他的话。

以色列人从何珥山启行，至撒摩拿扎营；

你们为何使以色列人军心动摇，不敢进入耶和华所赐之地？

他们到以实各谷打探那地方，回来后竟动摇军心，使以色列人不敢进入耶和华所赐之地。

由于亚玛力人和迦南人住在山谷中，明天你们要转回，沿红海的路前往旷野。”

不要惹他们，因为我已把西珥山赐给以扫作产业，他们的土地，我一寸也不会赐给你们。你们吃的、喝的，都要花钱向他们买。你们的上帝耶和华使你们凡事蒙福，看顾着你们走过这辽阔的旷野，四十年来与你们同在，使你们一无所缺。’“于是，我们绕过我们亲属以扫的子孙所住的西珥，沿亚拉巴的路，经过以拉他、以旬·迦别，向摩押旷野走去。

摩西遵命而行。他们三人就当着全体会众的面上了何珥山。

以东王却说：“你们不可从我这里经过，否则我必兵戎相见。”以色列人说：“我们只走大路，倘若我们和牲畜喝了你的水，我们会付钱。我们别无他求，只求步行穿过贵国。”但以东王仍然不准，还率领大军严阵以待。由于无法从以东穿过，以色列人只好绕道。以色列全体会众从加低斯出发，来到何珥山。耶和华在位于以东边界的何珥山对摩西和亚伦说：

免得有人因遭受这些患难而动摇，因为你们知道我们必遭受患难。我们在你们那里时曾预先告诉过你们，我们会遭遇患难，你们知道后来果然如此。

坚固各地门徒的信心，鼓励他们要持守信仰，并且说：“我们在进入上帝国的道路上必经历许多苦难。”

而你们要掉头，沿红海的路回到旷野。’
