我儿啊，现今愿耶和华与你同在，使你亨通，建造耶和华—你神的殿，正如他指着你所说的。但愿耶和华赐你聪明智慧，好按着他吩咐你的去治理以色列，遵行耶和华—你神的律法。

“我素常在你们中间到处传讲神的国；现在我知道，你们众人以后不会再见到我的面了。所以我今日向你们作证，你们中间无论何人死亡，罪不在我。因为神一切的旨意，我并没有退缩不传给你们的。圣灵立你们作全群的监督，你们就当为自己谨慎，也为全群谨慎，牧养神的教会，就是他用自己血所买来的。我知道，在我离开以后必有凶暴的豺狼进入你们中间，不顾惜羊群。

“你上摩押地的亚巴琳山脉，到面对耶利哥的尼波山去，看我所要赐给以色列人为业的迦南地。你必死在你所登的山上，归到你祖先那里，像你哥哥亚伦死在何珥山上，归到他祖先那里一样。

“愿耶和华，赐万人气息的神，立一个人治理会众，可以在他们面前出入，引导他们进出，免得耶和华的会众如同没有牧人的羊群一般。”耶和华对摩西说：“嫩的儿子约书亚是一个有圣灵的人；你要领他来，为他按手，使他站在以利亚撒祭司和全会众面前，在他们眼前委派他，又将你的尊荣给他一些，好使以色列全会众都听从他。他要站在以利亚撒祭司面前；以利亚撒要凭乌陵的判断，在耶和华面前为他求问。他和以色列全会众都要照以利亚撒的指示出入。”于是摩西照耶和华所吩咐他的，将约书亚领来，使他站在以利亚撒祭司和全会众面前，为他按手，委派他，是照耶和华藉摩西所说的。

我也要尽心竭力，使你们在我去世以后时常记念这些事。

于是耶和华的仆人摩西死在摩押地那里，正如耶和华所说的。

另一方面，这位既是永远留住的，他具有不可更换的祭司职任。所以，凡靠着他进到神面前的人，他都能拯救到底，因为他长远活着为他们祈求。

以色列人出埃及地后四十年，五月初一，亚伦祭司遵照耶和华的指示，上何珥山，死在那里。亚伦死在何珥山的时候一百二十三岁。住在迦南地尼革夫的迦南人亚拉得王听说以色列人来了。以色列人从何珥山起行，安营在撒摩拿。从撒摩拿起行，安营在普嫩。从普嫩起行，安营在阿伯。从阿伯起行，安营在摩押境内的以耶‧亚巴琳。从以耶‧亚巴琳起行，安营在底本‧迦得。从底本‧迦得起行，安营在亚门‧低比拉太音。从亚门‧低比拉太音起行，安营在尼波前面的亚巴琳山脉。从亚巴琳山脉起行，安营在约旦河边，耶利哥对面的摩押平原。他们在摩押平原，沿着约旦河安营，从伯‧耶施末直到亚伯‧什亭。

摩西召了约书亚来，在以色列众人眼前对他说：“你当刚强壮胆！因为你要和这百姓一同进入耶和华向他们列祖起誓要给他们的地，你也要使他们承受那地为业。耶和华必在你前面行，他必亲自与你同在，必不撇下你，也不丢弃你。你不要惧怕，也不要惊惶。”

耶和华赐我许多儿子，在我儿子中拣选我儿子所罗门坐耶和华国度的王位，治理以色列。耶和华对我说：‘你儿子所罗门必建造我的殿和院宇，因为我拣选他作我的子，我也必作他的父。他若恒久遵行我的诫命典章如今日一样，我就必坚定他的国，直到永远。’现今在以色列众人眼前，在耶和华的会中，在我们神的垂听下，你们务要遵行并寻求耶和华—你们神的一切诫命，如此你们就可以承受这美地，并留给你们的子孙，永远为业。“我儿所罗门哪，你当认识耶和华—你父的神，全心乐意地事奉他，因为耶和华鉴察众人的心，知道一切心思意念。你若寻求他，他必使你寻见；你若离弃他，他必永远丢弃你。

大卫又吩咐以色列的众官长帮助他儿子所罗门：

嫩的儿子约书亚，因为摩西曾为他按手，他就被智慧的灵充满。以色列人听从他，照着耶和华所吩咐摩西的去做。
