Again they answered:“ You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.

Again the people of Edom answered,“ We won’t let you pass through here.” Then the people of Edom marched out against them. They came with a large and powerful army.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force.

But the king of Edom replied,“ Stay out! You may not pass through our land.” With that he mobilized his army and marched out against them with an imposing force.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You may not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and a strong hand.

Then he said,“ You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand.

And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You must not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

就打发使者去见以东王，说：‘求你容我从你的地经过。’以东王却不应允。又照样打发使者去见摩押王，他也不允准。以色列人就住在加低斯。

耶和华如此说：“以东三番四次地犯罪，我必不免去她的刑罚；因为她拿刀追赶兄弟，毫无怜悯，发怒撕裂，永怀忿怒。

以东王说：“你不可从我的地经过，免得我带刀出去攻击你。”

西宏却不信服以色列人，不容他们经过他的境界，乃招聚他的众民在雅杂安营，与以色列人争战。

以扫因他父亲给雅各祝的福，就怨恨雅各，心里说：“为我父亲居丧的日子近了，到那时候，我要杀我的兄弟雅各。”

“因你向兄弟雅各行强暴，羞愧必遮盖你，你也必永远断绝。当外人掳掠雅各的财物，外邦人进入他的城门，为耶路撒冷拈阄的日子，你竟站在一旁，像与他们同伙。你兄弟遭难的日子，你不当瞪眼看着；犹大人被灭的日子，你不当因此欢乐；他们遭难的日子，你不当说狂傲的话。我民遭灾的日子，你不当进他们的城门；他们遭灾的日子，你不当瞪眼看着他们受苦；他们遭灾的日子，你不当伸手抢他们的财物；你不当站在岔路口剪除他们中间逃脱的；他们遭难的日子，你不当将他们剩下的人交付仇敌。”“耶和华降罚的日子临近万国。你怎样行，他也必照样向你行；你的报应必归到你头上。

因为你永怀仇恨，在以色列人遭灾、罪孽到了尽头的时候，将他们交与刀剑，所以主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，我必使你遭遇流血的报应，罪必追赶你；你既不恨恶杀人流血，所以这罪必追赶你。我必使西珥山荒凉，令人惊骇，来往经过的人我必剪除。我必使西珥山满有被杀的人。被刀杀的，必倒在你小山和山谷，并一切的溪水中。我必使你永远荒凉，使你的城邑无人居住，你的民就知道我是耶和华。“因为你曾说：‘这二国这二邦必归于我，我必得为业’（其实耶和华仍在那里），所以主耶和华说：我指着我的永生起誓，我必照你的怒气和你从仇恨中向他们所发的嫉妒待你。我审判你的时候，必将自己显明在他们中间。

我愿和睦，但我发言，他们就要争战。

所打发的人回到雅各那里，说：“我们到了你哥哥以扫那里，他带着四百人，正迎着你来。”
