窥探那地的人中，有嫩的儿子约书亚和耶孚尼的儿子迦勒；他们撕裂衣服，对以色列全体会众说：“我们去窥探的那地，是十分美好的地方。耶和华若是喜悦我们，就必把我们领进那地，把那地赐给我们，那地原是流奶与蜜的地。只要你们不背叛耶和华，就不必怕那地的人，因为他们是我们的食物；荫庇他们的，已经离开他们了，耶和华却与我们同在；不要怕他们。”

既是这样，我们对这一切还有什么话说呢？神若这样为我们，谁能敌对我们呢？

我们靠着神奋勇作战，因为他必践踏我们的敌人。

我靠着那加给我能力的，凡事都能作。

列国围困着我，我靠着耶和华的名必除灭他们。他们围绕着我，把我围困，我靠着耶和华的名必除灭他们。

犹大人来到吉甲约书亚那里，基尼洗人耶孚尼的儿子迦勒对约书亚说：“耶和华在加低斯．巴尼亚对神人摩西所说关于你和我的话，你是知道的。耶和华的仆人摩西从加低斯．巴尼亚派我去窥探这地的时候，我正四十岁；我照着我心里所想的向他报告。可是，与我一同上去的众兄弟却使人民的心惊惧，我却完全顺从耶和华我的神。

不要惧怕，因为我与你同在；不要四处张望，因为我是你的神，我必坚固你，我必帮助你；我必用公义的右手扶持你。看哪！向你发怒的都必蒙羞受辱；与你相争的人，都要如同无有，并要灭亡。与你争竞的人，你要寻找他们，却找不着；与你交战的人，都必如同无有，好像虚无。因为我，耶和华你们的神，紧握着你的右手，对你说：“不要惧怕，我必帮助你。”虫子雅各啊！以色列人哪！你不要惧怕。我必帮助你；这是耶和华说的。你的救赎主，就是以色列的圣者。看哪！我要使你成为打粮的器具，又新，又锋利，又有很多利齿；你要扬净群山，把它们压得粉碎，又使冈陵变成糠秕。你必簸扬它们，风要把它们吹去，旋风也要把它们吹散；但你要靠耶和华喜乐，以以色列的圣者夸耀。

但靠着爱我们的那一位，我们在这一切事上就得胜有余了。

他们藉着信，就战胜了敌国，伸张了正义，得到了应许，堵住了狮子的口，

耶和华是我的亮光，是我的救恩，我还怕谁呢？耶和华是我性命的避难所，我还惧谁呢？（本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题）那些作恶的，就是我的敌人、我的仇敌，他们逼近我，要吃我肉的时候，就绊跌仆倒。
