耶和華吩咐嫩的兒子約書亞說：「你當剛強壯膽，因為你必領以色列人進入我所起誓應許他們的地，我必與你同在。」

我要在肥美的草場牧養牠們。牠們的圈必在以色列高處的山上，牠們必躺臥在佳美的圈內，在以色列山肥美的草場上吃草。

他們得了堅固的城鎮、肥沃的土地，取了裝滿各樣美物的房屋、挖成的水井、葡萄園、橄欖園，以及許多果樹。他們就吃了，而且飽足，身體肥胖，因你的大恩活得快樂。

他們在本國領受你大恩的時候，在你所賜給他們這廣大肥沃之地不事奉你，也不轉離他們的惡行。

耶利哥王派人到喇合那裏，說：「你要交出那來到你這裏、進了你家的人，因為他們來是要窺探全地。」

二人離開，到山上去，在那裏停留三天，直等到追趕的人回去。追趕的人一路尋找，卻找不着。二人回來，下了山，過了河，來到嫩的兒子約書亞那裏，向他報告他們所遭遇的一切事。

你當剛強壯膽，因為你必使這百姓承受那地為業，就是我向他們列祖起誓要給他們的地。

我有禍了！我好像夏日收割後的果子，又如收成之後剩餘的葡萄，沒有一掛可吃的，也沒有我心所渴想初熟的無花果。

他們到了以實各谷，從那裏砍下葡萄樹枝，上面有一掛葡萄，兩個人用槓抬着，又帶了一些石榴和無花果。以色列人從那裏砍下一掛葡萄，所以那地方就叫以實各谷。

我豈沒有吩咐你嗎？你當剛強壯膽，不要懼怕，也不要驚惶，因為你無論往哪裏去，耶和華你的上帝必與你同在。」

他們的手帶着那地的一些果子，下到我們這裏，回報我們說：『耶和華－我們的上帝所賜給我們的是美地。』

所以，我們可以勇敢地說：「主是我的幫助，我必不懼怕。人能把我怎麼樣呢？」

你們當剛強壯膽，不要害怕，也不要畏懼他們，因為耶和華－你的上帝必與你同去；他必不撇下你，也不丟棄你。」摩西召了約書亞來，在以色列眾人眼前對他說：「你當剛強壯膽！因為你要和這百姓一同進入耶和華向他們列祖起誓要給他們的地，你也要使他們承受那地為業。耶和華必在你前面行，他必親自與你同在，必不撇下你，也不丟棄你。你不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。」

我兒啊，現今願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，建造耶和華－你上帝的殿，正如他指着你所說的。

迦勒在摩西面前安撫百姓，說：「我們立刻上去得那地吧！我們必能征服它。」但那些和他同去的人卻說：「我們不能上去攻打那些百姓，因為他們比我們強大。」
