我從以色列人中，把利未人賜給亞倫和他的眾子，在會幕裡辦理以色列人的事務，又為以色列人贖罪，免得他們走近聖所的時候，就有災禍臨到他們。”

從以色列人那一半中，無論是人、牛、驢、羊群，或是各樣牲畜，都要抽出五十分之一，交給負責看守耶和華帳幕的利未人。”

他們要替亞倫和全體會眾，在會幕前盡上本分，辦理帳幕的事。他們又要看守管理會幕裡的一切器具，也要替以色列人盡上本分，辦理帳幕的事。

摩西照著耶和華吩咐他的，從屬於以色列人的那一半，無論是人口或是牲畜，都抽出五十分之一，交給負責看守耶和華帳幕的利未人。

聖靈既然立你們為全群的監督，牧養神用自己的血所贖來的教會，你們就應當為自己謹慎，也為全群謹慎。我知道在我離開之後，必有兇暴的豺狼進入你們中間，不顧惜羊群。你們自己中間也必有人起來，講些歪曲悖謬的話，引誘門徒跟從他們。所以你們應當警醒，記念我三年之久，晝夜不停地帶著眼淚勸戒你們各人。

耶和華因為伯．示麥人偷窺他的約櫃，就擊殺他們；他擊殺了七十人（“七十人”大多數文本都作“五萬零七十人”，少數文本作“七十人”）。眾人因為耶和華用大災擊殺他們，就哀哭起來。

只要派利未人管理法櫃的帳幕，和其中的一切器具，以及一切屬於帳幕的事物；他們要抬帳幕和其中的一切器具；他們要辦理帳幕的事，在帳幕四周安營。

在帳幕前面東邊，就是在會幕前向日出的方向安營的，是摩西、亞倫和亞倫的兒子；他們代替以色列人應盡的職責，看守聖所；外人近前來，必被治死。

務要傳道；無論時機是否適合，都要常作準備；要以多方的忍耐和教訓責備人、警戒人、勸勉人。

在我來以前，你要專心宣讀聖經、勸勉和教導。不要忽略你所得的恩賜，就是眾長老按手時藉著預言賜給你的。這些事你要認真實行，專心去作，使眾人看出你的長進來。你要謹慎自己，留心自己的教訓。在這些事上要有恆心，因為你這樣作，不但能救自己，也能救那些聽你的人。

先知說假預言，祭司憑己意把持權柄。我的子民竟喜愛這樣，到了結局你們怎麼辦呢？”

你要帶著你的親族利未支派的人，就是你祖宗支派的人，與你一同前來，使他們與你聯合，並且服事你；只是你和你的兒子要與你一同在約櫃的會幕前供職。他們要守你所吩咐的，和會幕裡的一切事，只是不可走近聖所的器具和祭壇，免得他們和你們都死亡。他們要與你聯合，也要守會幕的本分，辦理會幕的一切事務；只是外人不可走近你們。你們要看守聖所和祭壇，免得震怒再臨到以色列人。

“關於利未人的職責是這樣：從二十五歲及以上的，要進來辦理會幕裡的事務；到了五十歲，就要停止辦理事務，不再辦事；只要在會幕裡幫助自己的兄弟，盡忠職守，事務卻不必辦理了。關於利未人的職守，你要這樣向他們行。”

因此，論到這些先知，萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“看哪！我必使他們吃苦堇，喝毒水，因為有不敬虔的風氣，從耶路撒冷的先知中散播出來，遍及全地。”

至於我們，耶和華是我們的神，我們並沒有離棄他；我們有事奉耶和華的祭司，都是亞倫的子孫，並且有利未人負責工作。
