“ You saw the misery of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cries from beside the Red Sea.

「『你曾看見我們祖先在埃及所受的困苦，垂聽他們在紅海邊的哀求，

「『你曾看見我們祖先在埃及所受的困苦，垂聽他們在紅海邊的哀求，

「你看見我們祖先在埃及所受的苦，又聽見他們在紅海邊的呼求，

你看見我們的列祖在埃及所受的困苦，垂聽他們在紅海的哀求，

『你曾看見我們列祖在埃及所受的困苦，垂聽他們在蘆葦海邊的哀呼，

我之列祖、受苦於埃及、爾鑒之、哀號於紅海、爾聞之、

我之列祖於埃及、備受艱辛、爾鑒之、在紅海籲呼、爾聞之、

我列祖在伊及受艱苦、主鑒之、在紅海呼籲、主聽之、

“ You saw the suffering of our ancestors in Egypt; you heard their cry at the Red Sea.

“ You saw how our people of long ago suffered in Egypt. You heard them cry out to you at the Red Sea.

“ And you saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt and heard their cry at the Red Sea,

You saw the oppression of our ancestors in Egypt and heard their cry at the Red Sea.

“ You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, And heard their cry by the Red Sea.

“ You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, And heard their cry by the Red Sea.

And thou sawest the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red Sea,

You saw the oppression of our ancestors in Egypt and heard their cry at the Red Sea.

And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea;

“ You saw the affliction of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cry at the Red Sea.

As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord,and they said to Moses,“ Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt?Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said,‘ Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’”But Moses told the people,“ Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

Then the Lord told him,“ I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey— the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them.

I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groans and have come down to rescue them. Now go, for I am sending you back to Egypt.’

He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act.

“ Now go and call together all the elders of Israel. Tell them,‘ Yahweh, the God of your ancestors— the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob— has appeared to me. He told me,“ I have been watching closely, and I see how the Egyptians are treating you.
